I want to acknowledge those yogis that continued their practice with inlight:
You learned new new ways to practice, tried zoom,
stuck with it, even though it was brand new.
You braved the elements & heat in outdoor yoga.
You practiced with recordings. You liked the facebook posts.
You kept together as a sangha, kept together our experiment
of community, volunteer yoga.
Congratulations to you all & thank you. Let's keep it going together.
This start of our 20th year of inlight (2002-2022).
You don't need a zoom account or computer to take our zoom classes:
Just a smart phone, tablet or computer & internet connection. That simple.
Today's Stress-Less Tips week - May 2
Posted every weekday
Our month of focusing on friendship
—As we talk about stress in these posts, I was thinking of the role of sangha in yoga, the support of the community of like minded people. I see the parallels between sangha and friendship. It makes one think of the value friendship & how we see that in yoga. The way friendship teaches us about interconnectedness, unity. The way it grounds us & teaches us to be better karma yogis (to selflessly serve others). The way it helps us let go of the ego. The way that caring about those close to you opens you to caring about all those around you. The way it shows us different facets & aspects of love.
—What creates friendship; common interest & beliefs, shared experiences, respect, the desire to learn. Or, is it something more; a connection, a recognition, something deeper? Connecting & caring is yoga practice. Being a sincere friend is yoga practice.
—Paramhansa Yogananda wrote about friendship. I’ll post his and other quotes on friendship for the month of March.
“Seek your friends of past incarnations in order that you may continue your friendship in this life and perfect it into Divine Friendship. One lifetime is not always sufficient to achieve such perfection.”
“Friendship is God’s love shining through the eyes of your loved ones, calling you home to drink His nectar of all selfishness-dissolving unity. Friendship is God’s trumpet call, bidding the soul to destroy the partitions that separate it from other souls and from Him. True friendship unites two souls so completely that they reflect the unity of Spirit.”
"Friendship is a manifestation of God’s love for you, expressed through your friends, who constitute the most valuable possessions a human being can have."
"Friendship is eternal. If you can form a friendship through which God is awakened in you, that is the greatest of all friendships."
